Better Care Network Global

Active

The Better Care Network (BCN) is an interagency initiative that facilitates global information exchange and collaboration among the growing number of organizations, governments, community groups, and individuals working to strengthen children’s care around the world. BCN is widely recognized as the preeminent global information hub and convener to influence action for children without adequate family care. The BCN website is the largest global collection of research, tools, events and other documentation on issues related to strengthening family care and alternative care, designed to support academics, policymakers and practitioners alike. BCN acts as convenor of a range of inter-agency initiatives to establish more strategic sector-wide collaboration spanning the global to the local level and inclusive of a wider range of stakeholders. In 2020 it launched the Transforming Children’s Care Global Collaborative Platform bringing together over 290 organizations and networks working to strengthen and reform care systems, to agree on common principles and approaches, leverage and build on one another’s work, secure greater and more sustainable impact, contribute to a shared learning agenda and undertake joint advocacy.

The Martin James Foundation has partnered with BCN to engage in advocacy work produce on several pieces of advocacy work, including webinars, on foster care and other aspects of alternative care systems.
