Today an estimates 8 million children live in orphanages. 80% of them have a living parent.
Research shows the damage caused by orphanages. Yet, they continue to be used in many countries to meet the needs of vulnerable children.
We are committed to reducing the number of children placed in orphanages by promoting and delivering family-based care through our Key Assets affiliates, supporting foster carers through our affiliate Foster Talk and collaborating with global Partners and communities to offer the support they need so they can deliver family-based services in their own contexts.
We Deliver
We deliver high-quality family strengthening, foster care and support services to foster families through our Affiliates in Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand and UK. In the UK, through our EPIC Youth initiative, we support care leavers and disadvantaged and vulnerable young people to start their own businesses.
We Empower
We empower Partners to strengthen their child protection systems, build their capacity to design, pilot, deliver and manage high quality-foster care, family strengthening services and expand their advocacy on family-based care in Argentina, Chile, Columbia, Croatia, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Madagascar, Maldives, Mexico and Thailand.
